At Atlanta-area Spas

At least 8 people have been killed and several others injured in a shooting at three spas in the Atlanta area. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long, is in custody.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said it received a 911 call at 5:47 p.m. ET Monday reporting a shooting at a spa in Acworth, Georgia. The shooter then drove to two spas in Atlanta and opened fire.

According to authorities, four people were killed at Young’s Asian Massage in Acworth and four more were killed at the other two spas in Atlanta. One person remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The Atlanta Police Department said the suspect was taken into custody in Crisp County, Georgia, after a pursuit.

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. Authorities said there is no indication that the attack was racially motivated, but the victims are all Asian women.

The families of the victims have been notified and the identities of the deceased are expected to be released later this week.
